Gildásio Jardim
He was born in Joaíma, in the lower Jequitinhonha Valley, in 1981. From a very young age he was already drawing, developing his first traces in a self-taught way.
The artist observes the daily life of his people to make his paintings. His gaze, attentive and sensitive, seeks to capture the "aesthetic poetry" that each person carries. "The human being is a very beautiful animal to look at," says the painter.
Thinkers such as
Freud, Nietzsche and Marx helped him to expand his gaze and perceive his own culture and the universal in its place. As well as the colours and expressiveness of the paintings, the political action that his canvases bring is also strong. Through the portrayal of daily life, Gildásio gives voice to subjects made invisible by society.
