Renata Costa
She (1966 - Rio de Janeiro) has always been interested in art since childhood, when she began her drawing studies encouraged by her aunt, with whom she learned observation drawing, including the techniques of pencil, gouache painting, pastel chalk and pointillism.
Considering her love for drawings, she joined the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) in 1985, where she had contact with several other artistic, plastic, volumetric and shape study techniques.
The harmonic composition of colors has always attracted her attention, starting from geometric design, and coming to identify herself with abstract art, adopting acrylic painting as a way to express her creativity, trying to transmit her art through textures, movements and brushstrokes.
In her works, Renata portrays aspects of contemporary life and nature in a captivating way, which fills the eyes with colors and contrasts. She chose abstractionism as a form of artistic expression. The range of free and pure thoughts transferred to canvas surfaces through spatula movements form images that lead the viewer's gaze to unravel the meaning of the contrast of colors and shapes. Expression and intuitive forms begin to interact and contrast through the colors used, which portray elements of nature, feelings, thoughts, human beings and current themes.
